After missing her bus one night, ten-year-old Celina Bliss gets curious and sets off on an adventure to an abandoned castle in the distance. Little does she know that exploring that castle will lead to a reunion with her older sister and then the fight for her life!

Evil Maybelle has destroyed Asa Bliss's beautiful town, and the other residents are now missing. In their journey to find their family and save the town, Celina and Asa battle through the Frightening Forrest of Fears in search of Maybelle's good sister, Estelle. Their bravery and passion leads to a final face-off, with sister against sister. Who will win and take control of Northwood?

Imani Benfell has written an adventurous, fast paced story with vivid descriptions and threats around every corner. Readers of fantasy, horror and paranormal mysteries will love every single twist and turn through the Forrest of Northwood and into the terrifying castles of Maybelle and Estelle. Join Celina and her friends as they fight to get back what is theirs.

Representing kids with Chronic illness

One of the main character in Mysteries of Maybelle has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Creating Asa was very important to me because I want everyone to see that characters with EDS and other painful and often debilitating illnesses are important and valued and can make a big difference.

Asa is the sort of person who I look up to and I wish I could be like her. I hope other kids with Chronic illnesses read and enjoy Mysteries of Maybelle and feel that they can relate to her struggles on her journey too.

I also hope that many able bodied kids will read this book, enjoy the mysterious, magical adventure and also see that kids with chronic illnesses should still be included and valued as human beings.

Meet The Team

While completing Mysteries of Maybelle I was absolutely blessed to be able to work with an amazing team of wonderful artists, a brilliant editor and an amazing mentor.

Read about them here!

Amazing Artists

Brandon Hall is the awesome human responsible the cover art work, it was amazing to watch my words come to life in this cover as he just "got" what I was trying to describe.

The illustrations inside the book were done by two amazing people. Amira Ozrain and Sienna Flemming.

I feel so much gratitude to have been able to work with them and to see my story come to life!

Exceptional Editor

I think if there was an award for the "worlds most patient editor" Michelle would certainly win it!

Working with her to fine tune Mysteries of Maybelle was wonderful. Again, I consider myself to be very fortunate to have worked with such a fab team.
